Our Story

The pandemic lockdown was long and strict in the Philippines. We were in 6th grade when the long lockdown started and in 8th grade by the time we went back to school face to face. In the interim, we would occasionally work with children from the Autism Society of the Philippines with whom Tia’s brother had worked with before the pandemic. It brought us fulfillment and joy to be with these kids. So we began to make plans for a more permanent relationship with them.

When Manila finally started opening up in January 2023, we started our first art lesson with 10 kids from the ASP Antipolo Chapter. The goal was to provide art as therapy to children in the spectrum who loved art and wished to find an output and a means to express their creativity.

But in the process of moving towards this goal, we have ourselves, learned and gained so much. It has been a pleasure getting to know our kids and sharing each first Saturday of the month with them. Their enthusiasm for art has only served to excite us and foster our own creativity more.

We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with them as we build on more experiences and create new plans for Kind Kanvas.
